Safeguarding Steel, Bronze and Aluminum Windows & Doors During Construction
High-performance metal and glass door systems—whether crafted in steel, bronze, or aluminum—require careful protection throughout the construction process. These materials, while exceptionally durable once installed and finished, can be vulnerable to scratches, corrosion, weld spatter, or surface contamination during framing, plastering, painting, or other trades on-site.
Glass is especially susceptible to etching or permanent damage from construction dust, mortar, or adhesives. Bronze, in particular, is a living finish and can easily oxidize or stain if not shielded properly.
We strongly recommend early coordination with the general contractor and relevant trades to implement protective measures suggested in the below linked guide.
