NYC Renovation, Defined by Steel

A complete gut renovation of a New York City residence, rebuilt around a singular idea: that the boundary between interior and exterior should be as thin, and as beautiful, as possible. Steel windows and doors from All the Details were specified throughout, bringing industrial precision and slender sightlines to every opening. Hinged entry doors, a hinged door framed by sidelights, casement and fixed windows, sliding doors, and a walkable skylight were deployed across the home, each selected for how it would perform in its specific location and how it would contribute to a unified material language.

The result is a home that belongs to New York. Light arrives from every direction - through the walls, underfoot, and overhead - held in place by steel that never apologizes for being exactly what it is. Casement windows open wide on warm evenings; fixed windows dissolve into pure glass and view; sliding doors disappear into the wall to create openings as generous as the city's parks. And the walkable skylight, the project's most unexpected move, sends light one floor below as a shifting pattern that changes with the hour and the season — a floor that is also a sky.
