Angled Steel Enclave
Greenwich, Connecticut
A stairwell alcove can be dead space, or it can be the best detail in the house. In Fairfield County, Connecticut, we enclosed the lower-level access under an angled stair ceiling with a steel and glass assembly in our V40 profile.
A fixed panel follows the underside of the stair so the glass meets the ceiling line cleanly. A single door opens to the lower level, held in the same slim steel sightlines.
The steel office twin doors and sidelights connect these elements in both form and function. The same profile and proportions carry from the stair enclosure to the office, so the whole run reads as one design while each piece does its own job.
The stairs stay visible, light carries through, and the lower-level feels connected instead of a separate room.
